Cold Weather Wishes Unleashed

One of our kids said, “I want a blizzard.” It sounded like an odd request since this is the child who’s not a fan of cold weather. Eventually, I realized that “blizzard” referred to Blizzard, so the statement was about ice cream, not weather. Of course, the request couldn’t have triggered a weather event, but we still received several inches of snow during this week’s storm. We’re often surprised when requests are granted. Watch these responses:

What a wonderful program. We could make the world fifty shades brighter by copying this idea. Experts say we bless ourselves when we look beyond personal wants and   help others instead. Carrying that spirit forward, what’s your one wish for the country today?

Can’t Stop the Feeling

This is exciting. What a night to be alive. That comment came from a young relative celebrating the Survivor season premiere and the Big Brother finale airing on the same evening. Although I enjoy the shows, I can think of at least several more exciting scenarios. I’m sure you can, too. Maybe they include one of these suggestions:

A castle, a digger, a dragon… The wish lists go on and on. Christmas is still a couple of months away, so I hesitate to mention it so early, but there’s no time like the present to begin thinking about how to make the season extra special. Your giving doesn’t have to be limited to friends and family, offering charitable assistance to any one of the many organizations that do good work will cause you to celebrate simply because you’re healthy and alive. What type of charitable organization would you consider supporting?

Wishing Well

I got it! The problem is I kept forgetting that I had it. After much deliberation a few months ago, we finally picked out a new vehicle.  I’m sure we made the right decision. In fact, I love our vehicle’s conveniences and features—and its many cup holders!

A funny thing happened for awhile after we purchased our vehicle. If I saw someone driving the same model down the road, I ’d think, “Awww, they have the vehicle I want.” Of course, seconds later I’d remember that I was driving the vehicle I wanted. What’s that about?

Sometimes we’re so busy pursuing goals that we forget to enjoy what we have right in front of us or to chase the things that truly make us happy. Listen to this video:
