No Damages?

There’s something wrong with the birds. In the last year, I’ve witnessed more bird collisions and casualties than ever. This week a robin swooped in front of a car and clipped the fender. A mass of white feathers flew into the air as the little bird rolled to the edge of the road. I hope it survived.

Is it poor timing, poor training, recklessness, or fearlessness that’s causing birds to engage in risky behavior? You may develop a whole new appreciation for risk after watching this scene:

It’s amazing how everybody kept moving. If we tossed in a few more tourists, the entire “system” would crumble because we’re used to lights and lanes—and much less road risk. Can you imagine living with that kind of free-for-all? We all have different risk comfort levels. What was the eventual outcome of your riskiest decision?

Taking It For Granted?

Are you more likely to clean the inside or the outside of your vehicle? I often try to do a thorough vacuuming before passengers pile in. When it comes to the outside, I hope for a hard rain. Unfortunately, the weather disappoints me. Either it doesn’t rain hard enough to wash away the grime or I’m parked in a place where I miss the cleansing shower. I’m usually the driver with the not-so-clean vehicle, but I’m not the only one.

One day we stopped at a red light and looked over at the vehicle that had pulled up beside us. This driver’s vehicle looked like an angry crowd had pelted it with mud balls. We laughed until our sides ached. I can’t imagine how the vehicle got that dirty. Maybe the driver hoped to run into this guy:

He cleaned the window until it sparkled, applied more dirt, then drew a masterpiece. After admiring the art for a moment, he rinsed it off. Why, Scott? Why?! Somebody get this guy some paper! It’s hard to watch beautiful art trickle away. Sometimes the things we have come so easily that we take them for granted. What have you taken for granted lately?

Joining the Secret Club?

Whenever I’m riding around town, I often enjoy reading other driver’s bumper stickers.  My theory is that there’s a correlation between a driver’s personality and the type of items they display on their car.
Recently, I’ve noticed a new type of bumper sticker.  It used to be easy to read stickers from a slight distance, but things have changed. Riddle me this: How did the trend toward the three-letter bumper sticker originate? I know that you’ve seen them. Quite often, I don’t know what the letters represent, and I can barely read the tiny printed names of whatever beach, school or business is listed below the letters.  Are these drivers all members of a of cool, secret three-letter bumper sticker club?  If that’s what’s going on, then count me in.  I’ll put a sticker on my car that reads “CRS.”  Figure that one out.  It stands for Can’t Read Your Sticker!  I know, you’re only allowed three words, one for each letter.  I just threw “your” in there to shake things up—blame it on the rebel in me.
If you think that this is a fluff topic, rest assured bumper sticker discussions can get deep.  Check out  this video:

I bet you’ll never see bumper stickers the same way again.

The other day I saw a lady driving a van with humongous, pink Easter bunny ears attached to her van.  What a whimsical woman!  Have any funny or interesting bumper stickers recently caught your eye?
